Family History

I have been interested in the history of the ‘Fanthorpe’ family for a number of years, but, never had the time to go to the main centre for research - Lincoln Archives until about 5 yrs ago. Whilst doing my own research I contacted ‘cousins’ in Canada and from them I was routed to Rod & Jean Fanthorpe (now in Lincoln - were in Worksop). We were able to pool information, however, they have taken the research to great lengths and have almost a complete family record from 1568.
There is still much debate on the family origins - the Concise Oxford Place names offers a date of 1202 for the hamlet of Fanthorpe (Fenthorp - Falmettorp - Feolumaer - (Felmelingham)) and the Assize Rolls show land transactions in the area of ‘Fanthorpe’ between Ranulphi de Otteby and Thomas de ffolmethorp and the quoting the hamlet as being ffolmethorp. These documents (1315) are in Latin and therefore need a careful translation.
Any offers for reading 12th century Latin will be gladly accepted.
